Treating acute anterior cruciate ligament tears [56:32m]:

Congratulation - great study - significant contribution to the literature and also to clinical practice.
Nonoperatively treated ACL injured subjects need to be more thoroughly studied, and more information on responders to nonoperatively treatment are needed to develop better criteria for surgery in the future.

I strongly recommend listening to these authors - they have a great feel for the problem after spending years and years thinking about it. I was struck by the clinical relevance of their comments and it does make me worry about those athletes who are getting back to sport within 6 months of reconstruction. Don’t be shy, please add your comments below!
Do you agree or disagree with the NEJM authors?
